Thank you to everyone who joined our Dickensian Guided Tour. The Scroogiest time was had by all!
Dickensian Christmas Guided Tour
Scrooge and his cousin, Mrs Scratchit returned to Sudbury this festive season for a meander around the historic market town of Sudbury. We managed to get the relentlessly miserable Mr Scrooge to crack a smile as the rest of us soak up the historic streets, stories and festive Sudbury spirit!
Charles Dickens has strong links to Sudbury - In the 19th Century Sudbury gained a reputation for electoral corruption and novelist Charles Dickens used it as the model for his 'Eatanswill' - The Rotten Borough in The Pickwick Papers, written in 1836.
The Rotten Borough is therefore the perfect place for Scrooge to escape the Festivities in London - so he's come to stay in Sudbury, in the hope that Sudbury is still a Rotten Borough...
Whether you are a visitor to the area or live locally and want to know more about this ancient Market Town, this tour offers a truly fascinating insight into Sudbury's unique past.
